HOW WE HANDLE INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR VISIT

Information Collected and Stored Automatically:

If you do nothing during your visit but browse through the website, read pages, or download information, we will gather and store certain information about your visit automatically, for example: the name of the Internet domain, ("xcompany.com" if you use a private Internet access account or "yourorganization.org" if you are connecting from a non-profit's domain), the IP address, the type of browser and operating system; the date and time of access; the Internet address of the website (from which you linked directly to our site); the pages you visit and the information you request. This information does not identify you personally.

This information is primarily collected for statistical analysis and technical improvements to the site. Our computer system uses software programs to create summary statistics, which may be used for such purposes as assessing which information is of most and least interest, determining technical design specifications and identifying system performance or problem areas. Unless directed by court order we will not share this information, including your identity, with other agencies. At the time of purchase, information will be shared with the merchant as necessary to properly complete the transaction.

We use this information to help us make our site more useful to the shoppers and merchants who use it, to learn about the number of visitors to our site, and the types of technology our visitors use. We do not track or record information about individuals and their visits.

Information Protection: your information will not be shared.

For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, the system employs software programs to monitor network traffic, to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. If such monitoring reveals evidence of possible abuse or criminal activity, such evidence may be provided to appropriate law enforcement officials. Unauthorized attempts to upload or change information on this server are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 and the National Information Infrastructure Protection Act or other law.

You May Elect to Provide Us Personal Information:

You do not have to provide any personal information to visit this website. However, if you choose to, for example by sending a message to an e-mail address, filling out a form and submitting it through the website, or by updating your profile, we will use that information to respond to your message or fulfil the stated purpose of the communication. You should note that such voluntary information provided to us constitutes your consent to the use of the information for the stated purpose. When you click the “Submit” or “Buy” button for example, you are indicating your voluntary consent to use of the information you submit for the purpose stated. All uses of that information are described on the web page containing the form. Remember that e-mail is not necessarily secure against interception. If your communication is sensitive or includes personal information you may prefer to send it by postal mail instead.

How information is used:

The information we collect is used for a variety of purposes (e.g., to register you as a user, to respond to requests for information, and to fill orders). We make every effort to disclose clearly how information is used at the point where it is collected so you can determine whether you wish to provide the information.

Retention of Information:

We destroy the information we collect when the purpose for which it was provided has been fulfilled unless we are required to keep it longer by statute or official policy. Electronically submitted information is maintained and destroyed according to the principles of the Federal Records Act and the regulations and records schedules approved by the National Archives and Records Administration and in some cases information submitted to us may become an agency record and therefore might be subject to a Freedom of Information Act request.

Interaction with children:

It is the intent of this website to offer content and material that is suitable for all ages; however, we require that youth under 18 have their parents’ permission to use their credit card information or to make any purchases on our site. No personally identifiable information is collected from the youth unless voluntarily submitted as a request for information or services. The information supplied is used to respond to the user’s inquiries or to provide services requested by the user.

Grand Canyon Sherpa is especially concerned about protecting children’s privacy. We hope parents are involved in children’s Internet explorations. It is particularly important for parents to guide their children when children are asked to provide personal information online. Grand Canyon Sherpa  shopper’s landing page does not require children to reveal any information that could personally identify them. If a child chooses to provide personally identifying information to us, through an e-mail or otherwise, it will only be used to enable us to respond to the writer, and will not be retained.
